Description

Wilderness First Aid is a two-day introduction to general medical concepts and basic life support skills. It is targeted to the outdoor enthusiast on day trips or short adventures. This course results in a certification in Wilderness First Aid and Adult CPR. More course details can be found at www.wildmed.com/course-type/wilderness-first-aid.

This course is taught by a qualified and experienced Wilderness Medical Associates instructor who provides high quality instruction through a combination of classroom learning and hands-on application.

Class runs from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. each day out of Bear Run Nature Reserve (1478 Mill Run Rd, Mill Run, PA 15464).  Keystone Trails Association will provide light snacks (fruit, energy bars, and coffee).  Students are responsible for bringing lunch and a reusable water bottle.  The classroom space does have a fridge, microwave, & stove for use as needed.  Most of the course will take place outside; dress for the weather.

On-site lodging is very limited.  Indoor lodging is available for $40 in a shared house.  You'll have a private room with a single bed, linens provided, and a shared kitchen and bathroom.  Space is available to camp on the home's lawn for an additional five people.  For those who are looking for a backcounty experience, camping is available at a group site that requires hiking 1 mile from the training location.  If interested in any of these lodging options, please note it on your registration form.  More details on the campsite can be found here; camping is free, and donations are welcome.
